The main objective of the Redefine Home project was to create a functional and stylish living space that meets the needs of the client. The designer achieved this by adopting a consistent simplicity design style and carefully planning the overall space. The result is a residence that not only looks visually appealing but also provides ample space for various activities.
One of the standout features of the Redefine Home project is the large floating frame structure that serves as a study desk and bar counter. This structure not only adds functionality to the space but also creates a sense of lightness and openness. The use of embedded LED strips within the frame enhances the interaction between different functional areas.
The public area of the residence is designed as an open space, blurring the boundaries between the living and dining areas. This allows for flexible activities and maximizes the use of space. By altering the original layout and merging the study and part of the walkway with the living and dining room, the designer has magnified the residential space.
The Redefine Home project incorporates various materials and technologies to bring the design to life. Aluminium LED strip light bars, shrink film, metal parts, Changhong glass, Italian Spiver decorative paint, system furniture, and SPC flooring were used to create a simple urban style with a consistent color tone and cohesive design.
With a total area of 105.79 square meters, the Redefine Home project is located in a 10-storey apartment building. The integration of the study, living, and dining rooms into an open space, along with the addition of storage cabinets at the entrance, optimizes the functionality and practicality of the residence. Geometrically shaped wooden shelves add a touch of liveliness to the space, while a long-span suspended wooden frame separates the public and private areas, creating a sense of openness.
The Redefine Home project showcases a natural style with a simple modern aesthetic. The use of mixed-use open spaces and enlarged areas enhances the overall living experience. By reducing excessive decoration and focusing on durability and functionality, this design creates a comfortable and modern home.
The Redefine Home project, designed by Wei Chih Chang, is a testament to the designer's creativity and technical skills. Overcoming challenges such as enlarging the space, setting up ample storage, and maintaining a minimalist style, the designer and team successfully delivered a high-quality design that exceeded the client's expectations.
Recognized for its outstanding design, the Redefine Home project was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2020. This prestigious award acknowledges the project's innovative and resourceful approach, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
